Travel Is Something You Feel: My Story as a Travel Agent

Hi, I'm Kellie. And if I'm being completely honest with you, I didn't fall into travel, I was pulled in by it. By the feeling of it. That rush of standing somewhere so beautiful, so alive, so completely different from your everyday world that every single one of your senses wakes up at once.

That, to me, is what travel is for.

I remember the first time I really understood that. Sitting by the N'wanetsi river on safari, sundowner in hand, when a lion's roar ripped through the air. Not just a sound, a vibration. Something that moves through your chest and reminds you that the world is so much bigger, wilder and more magnificent than anything you could scroll past on a screen. That moment didn't just make me love travel more. It changed how I see it entirely.

Travel, I believe, should awaken all five senses. And I've been lucky enough to have moments that did exactly that.

I've floated in a hot air balloon over Cappadocia, watching brightly coloured silk balloons scatter across a sunrise-pink sky above the valleys of Göreme. I've stepped into a tiny English pub buried deep in the New Forest on a cold winter's night, breathing in the warm, woody scent of a burning fire. I've tasted local dishes I never in a million years thought I'd enjoy and been completely, joyfully wrong about every single one of them. I've felt soft white sand between my toes beside water so impossibly turquoise it looked like someone had filtered it.

And I've glided through the emerald waters of Ha Long Bay as limestone karsts rose up through the morning mist. I've wandered the sun-drenched streets of Florence, pausing at a tucked-away trattoria for handmade pasta and the most perfectly paired glass of wine. I've stood in bustling piazzas breathing in the smell of fresh basil, espresso and warm focaccia as church bells echoed through the afternoon air.

These are the moments I live for. The aha moments, as I call them, the ones that stay with you long after the jet lag fades and the suitcase is unpacked.

So why did I become a travel agent?

Because I wanted to help other people find their version of those moments.

I'm based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, and I work with Connected Travel an Australian owned and operated travel business where I get to do what I genuinely love every single day: helping curious travellers build holidays that don't just look good on paper, but feel extraordinary in real life.

My style is eclectic. I'll go anywhere, honestly, there's no destination that doesn't hold something worth discovering. But my heart is especially drawn to immersive experiences: group travel, tours, and women's getaways where you share the joy of discovery with people who love food, culture and connection as much as you do. There's something magical about experiencing a new place alongside people you care about, or people you're about to become close with.

Whether it's a luxury African safari, a European river cruise, a week through the Christmas markets of Germany and Austria, a rail journey through the Canadian Rockies, or an adventure into Türkiye or Peru, I love tailoring journeys that feel personal, thoughtful, and deeply memorable.

What I've found, after years of doing this, is that the best holidays aren't just planned. They're felt. And that's what I'm here to help you do.

I'll take the time to understand what moves you, what kind of memories you want to bring home. And then I'll help you build a journey around that.

Because that's what travel should be: not just a trip. Not just a checklist of attractions. But an experience that awakens your senses, surprises you, connects you with the world, and leaves you with stories worth telling for the rest of your life.

I'd love to help you plan yours.
